WHAT I WISH AND DREAM FOR THE 21CENTURY

First when I heard about the Theme for this essay, I thought
about what exactly a dream and a hope are, and what the difference is.
I reckon a dream is something like a wish that will never happen. So it
is like an extension of hope, but much larger in size. As I thought, I
have found out that I have billions of dreams but not many wishes. This
might be unusual, and maybe childish, but this is one of the things I am
proud of. I always like to think big and imagine all sorts of different
patterns of my future. That is like my hobby.
Everything going on around me influences myself, and makes me
want to try and do them. This happens especially in sports. Once I start,
I get really stuck in it and can’t get out. As it goes on, I find myself
dreaming of being the best of what ever it is I’m stuck on. I don’t know
why, but I think it might be the confidence I have in myself that makes
me do these things. I’m probably thinking of myself as a genius or something
that can do anything without any effort. But soon, I find something new
to stick into, and I forget about what I was dreaming, and find myself
in another world. I don’t exactly forget about it but my mind gets taken
over by the curiosities of the new thing.
This might just make people think that I am weak-minded. True.
Some of my friends say that, but I don’t care. All the things I experience
will link to my future. Of course, being able to do only a little of each
won’t be anything. Life isn’t that easy. So, I think you need to have
at least 3 things of what you are tremendously good at. For me, you can’t
call it tremendous yet, but I have…Violin and English. These two are probably
the only things that I have been doing for more than 5 years. But they
don’t have good reasons.
Violin was something I was kind of forced to do from around the
age of 5. I really hated it but my mum made me practise for 2~3 hours every
day. I had strict teachers from time to time. When people came to visit
to my house, I was forced to play to them. She always used me like a robot.
That was my feeling in that time. But coming up to now, it became a great
gift to be able to play the Violin and I couldn’t have done without her.
She gave me a chance to play with wonderful people and gave me lots of
experience. Now, music itself is something I love.
The other is English. This was something close to natural. But
same with this time it was my parents that put me in a good environment
to be able to study it. First when I went to England, I couldn’t speak
any English. That is normal. But they found me a good place to work and
had me a tutor about 3 times a week. The tutor was really generous and
I thought her like a relative or even a part of our family. She really
helped us out. Coming back to Japan, I was made to learn lots of Japanese
and was made to work for Examination. Again, my parents did it. They found
me a school called ○○○, which has a class full of returnees. I never
thought I would forget my English, but they were clever. I don’t know
what could happened if I wasn’t in this school.
Now that I have two, I’ve got to find the last one and brush
it up to the tremendous level. If I were to have a wish, it would be: making
Volleyball as the last of the advantages.
Volleyball is the only thing I have been doing myself for 2
years. I met Volleyball when I was looking for a club to go in, after entering
○○○. I can’t remember why I chose to do Volleyball, but I wanted to do something
I hadn’t done before. It was much exciting than I thought. The game itself, lots
of good friends, and the kind seniors gave me lots of happiness. And still, they
are. I’m really glad to have done Volleyball.
So, to my conclusion, what I wish and dream for the 21 century
is to be able to keep myself challenging things one another, having experience.
And at the same time, make big progress in my skills of the 3 good things
and breed it up to the tremendous level.
